Battle Of The GOATs

Battle Of The GOATs

It's obvious Red Bull’s massive car advantage has diminished and the other teams have caught up, bringing back some competition at the front row.

Okay, so here’s the plot – Toto finally gets tired of his Verstappen action figure and visits Alonso’s trailer, convincing him to reconsider and get in Hamilton’s car as we change our allegiance to the Scuderia. Oh yes, I’m team #Hamilton. Max is still in a competitive Red Bull, but the field has been leveled. Check this, Alonzo in a resurging Mercedes, and Hamilton leading a revived Ferrari – setting the stage for a battle between the greatest drivers of this generation. The final dance of the GOATs in fairly equal machinery, driving for the most successful teams in Formula One. With Lando and his McLaren making some cameo. Wishful thinking?

It’s obvious Red Bull’s massive car advantage has diminished and the other teams have caught up, bringing back some competition at the front row. It’s 2025, Red Bull is without their cheat code – Adrian Newey. All the top teams fully understand their cars and have figured out their winning formula.

Imagine what it will be, the final lap of the current regulations with drivers and teams fully abreast.

Max Verstappen rose to the throne through what I considered a coup d état in 2021, dominated in 2022, and blitzed the field in 2023 in ways never seen before in the sport. Max was so dominant that we all could hum to the Dutch Christmas anthem. In 2023, he got the record for most points in an F1 season, won 10 races in a roll to grab the most consecutive wins, and was on the podium (mostly 1st) 21 times out of 22 races. The synergy between Max and those Adrain Newey and Red Bull cars was – erm… a pain to watch.

Imagine coming out of Abu Dhabi 2021, with a new regulation. A new era, ready to serve a cold meal of revenge and tell the FIA to stick it up. No, you are the one getting fucked. Mercedes decided to play Dexter with the new car and left Lewis Hamilton in a bouncing submarine that almost paralyzed him. I bet these were daunting times for Lewis especially when people who were supposed to know better suddenly had amnesia. Mercedes has ditched their botched concept, joined the wagon, and finally seems to figure it out. But Hamilton has overstayed his welcome at Brackley and has decided to pursue the 9th at Maranello.

Fernando Alonso, two-time World Champion. The villain of the track. A true race car driver with commendations across multiple disciplines, but he has a transfer boogey in his suit. We all thought the jinx was dead when Aston pulled up to the party in 2023 with a buffed horse. Maybe there were too many steroids, and they are dealing with that now. Alonzo loves to win and can do so, and he wants to win.

Dominance is boring, and worse off when it’s occurring at the top echelon of motorsports. Until this year, it has been grueling to watch the race when Max disappears into the blue 3 corners into the start, put 15 seconds on P2, and we will be forced to watch battles for 13th and 12th.

We are enjoying F1 now, why shouldn’t we have a whole season full of excitement?🤷‍♂️
