Africa: The Resource-Rich Butler at the Banquet of Western Nations – A Legacy of Exploitation and the Struggle for Dignity

Africa is a resourced rich continent but a butler at the banquet.

Africa: The Resource-Rich Butler at the Banquet of Western Nations – A Legacy of Exploitation and the Struggle for Dignity

At independence Ghana held a beacon, signalling that the continent was fully aware and ready to seize its destiny for progress and self-actualization. We’ve built America and financed Europe out of poverty; we are now poised to reclaim Africa and restore dignity to take a seat at the table.

Africa is a resource-rich continent, but it is often overlooked at the banquet. Bringing the food to the table, but can’t stay for the meal. A sequence of events has culminated in this fiasco – greed, war, slavery, colonialism, imperialism, democracy, and globalization. The oppressed is always the victim, but the victor is an oppressed who seized destiny to prevail.

The New Patriotic Party in Ghana recently outdoored the running mate of their 2025 elections flagbearer. During his speech, Martin Opoku Prempeh made a statement seeking to denigrate the legacy of Ghana’s First President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, in his bottom-licking exaltation of the current President, Nana Akuffo-Addo, who is arguably the epitome of failed leadership.

Although I have my reservations about Martin, I won’t express them here, as I believe it might offend some of you. I yield to the general perception that he is not a very wise person.

His aspersions were not borne in a vacuum, but I will hold this digression.

At independence, Ghana held a beacon, signaling that the continent was fully aware and ready to seize its destiny for progress and self-actualization. We’ve built America and financed Europe out of poverty; we are now poised to reclaim Africa and restore dignity to take a seat at the table.

However, there is an issue: this banquet can’t be a buffet. So, it’s either the butler stands for its own interest or continues to serve other people’s interests. We were lucky; we had a rebel butler. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah closed his line and told the colonial prey to fetch their own food.

A significant challenge on the continent is its educational system. It used to be unfathomable the logic behind keeping imperialist-influenced curriculum, but I later recognized that it’s all part of the shenanigans that establish the weak link.

Opoku Prempah’s statement had deep roots; he didn’t mention any other name because he couldn’t ascribe that level of condescension to any other person on that list. Although it is an ignorant assertion, the roots of that notion have been the weak link that broke this continent before it could be re-established.

I won’t attempt to retell the story of Ghana’s independence; heck, I am not even qualified to. However, not everyone in the line accepted Nkrumah’s decision to seize the servitude and establish dignity in the ranks. You see, the butler had close contact with the master, and they got to dress like him, too. This can be attractive and indulging for some low-lifers, trojans to the course.

I once posted on Facebook that Ghana will make meaningful progress once we get our next president, the one after Nkrumah. I won’t pretend that I know the details, but I will ask you to imagine the level of difficulty imposed on the nation to ensure that Nkrumah fails, because that will serve as a deterrent.

Initially, the UGCC aimed to establish a cabal that would assume the heavy lifting of local administration – managing the means of capital and revenue generation while maintaining the status quo at the banquet. With this, they can dress and speak like the master and accumulate wealth to ensure superiority within the ranks. You must know these people are the patient zero of corruption, self-aggrandizement, nepotism, and the roots of the shared greed that has hampered progress for generations.

Therefore, it is no surprise that they have evolved over the years through the NLM to establish their current entity, the NPP, to continue the legacy of greed and betrayal of the national course.

Nkrumah’s greatness lies not only in the unrivaled physical infrastructure and his visionary leadership, which championed not only Ghana’s independence but also the total liberation and unification of the African continent. His ability to prevail in profound adversity makes him truly exceptional. They may now accord him pseudo-regards, adjudging him superior titles to save face from the fact that he was so good at his game that they had to get their hands dirty.

Ironically, while the kings and queens have admitted defeat, the halfwit pawns still hold to their foolish notion. Even though they had collaborated with the raiders to infiltrate the minds of the masses through a rigged educational system and divisive politics to re-establish the rape order, time, like water, always finds its course.

Why would a leader of this nation lack the will to stop what clearly has become an existential threat? Well, the simple answer is greed. They can construct impeccable English and cite several excuses as the hindrance, but the real Teflon is greed.
